Possible NeXT conquest....

I am so pumped! I found a complete NeXT setup sans the monitor cable for $20. I am second in line to buy it. I am hoping the first buyer falls through...

Wish me luck!

It's a first generation model, if I'm not mistaken. Here's a picture of the actual setup -

Holy moses! All that for $20? With the SCSI drive. That's a deal of a lifetime if it works (or even, if not)!

I wish you luck!

8-o Dunno what I'd do with one though, I'm not a 'NIXie and I don't really want to get under the hood, so I run ubuntu. it just works.

My sentiments exactly. I've only seen one at free geek in Portland in person, but they won't give it to me.

They gave it to someone else. It's been gone for months. Prices on ebay have gone into the "insane" category over the last year.

this is why I decided not to tinker with the one I had. needed a keyboard and mouse to be functional than I looked up to see what that would cost... 8-o yeah, that's out side the 'want to tinker with' price range and even than I still needed software, SCSI drive, my screen was 'iffy', etc.

It's been gone every time I've been in for the last few months. Just the megapixel display, keyboard and laser printer were up there.

*Sob sob*

I didn't get it. The seller had a MUCH larger offer than the $20 he was asking, and he sold it to them. :(

If someone paid $500 for that Cube, you could still consider it a "killer deal" in today's crazy market.

As easy as OS X Server 1.0, anyway. :)

You can get an external box with a Mac ROM on it that allows you to boot System 7 natively.
