Performa 5260 - is it gone for good?

Today I went to fire up my Performa "6260", a Performa 5260 board in an LC630 shell, anyway, i got the death chimes. Not the music that you're supposed to get on a Performa when it dies, but the standard death chimes, like what you get on, say, an LC. I thought the problem may have been with the RAM, but both the SIMMs seem to work fine on an LC630 mobo, and i've also tried other known-good RAM in it as well, to no avail. I've also reset the CUDA, but still no go.

Is it gone for good? Hmph, all my PowerPCs seem to be dying! Now all I've got left is the 1400 and the iMac! (which has already died once)

Whether it's gone for good is hard to tell from the information you've given. Check for the usual problems, such as leaking electrolytics, weak PRAM batteries, etc. Strip to the minimum configuration, work your way back up. Verify that supply voltages are correct. Utter Latin incantations. Sprinkle (distilled) holy water, and let dry.

I checked the caps, none of them are leaking or appear to be bulging or anything, they all look perfectly normal. As for the PRAM battery, well, this machine's never had a PRAM battery, I've run it for 3 years in this configuration and its never skipped a beat. I've tried it completely stripped down, with various known-good SIMMs. I'm assuming that the supply voltages are ok, as the two LC630 mobos that I've tried in the machine work just perfectly.

And where do I get distilled holy water? :D

Hmm, well I tried starting up again this morning, seems to work fine now.

Gremlins, meh.
