Outbound laptop internal docking cable

Yeah, pretty sure there is no back plate/port/etc. Which is good! Makes things easier. I will hopefully get the cable figured out this weekend. Kinda sad how dang rare the boards are much less these cables. I actually picked up this Plus with the cable yesterday. Total gamble since the cable looked like the one, but it could have been anything and the card could have been missing. So bought blind and it paid off luckily.

That would be wonderful and you are a star. Yes, when I saw an SE one I leapt on it, even though it didn't come with the cable, because I didn't know when I would ever see one again...

One small update. The original cable ends were made by Hirose Electric, verified by the logo I can see inside the 28 contact cable end. The cable end is DN2-28 (A) and DN2-28 (B) - A & B are simply the top/bottom half of the connector shell. Besides the logo, there is nothing else. Some links of stuff that comes close to the connector. Anyone, someone can maybe poke around and find out exactly what is needed.

Going to their site, the DH series looks promising and may be the modern replacement.

Okay, through something together quick. Remember, this is for the Mac Plus so I can not say for certain it will be the same for the SE card.

That's incredibly helpful. Thankyou very much.

The pinout is likely to be quite similar, I think (he said, taking a wild guess). But I suspect a sensible way to cross-check this will be to make sure the ground pins match at either end: I've already mapped the ground pins on the SE connector and I will cross-reference them to the ground pins on the Outbound, and we'll see where we go...

The more I think about it, the more the pins should be the same since the business end, on the Outbound, is the same. Do your card connectors looks the same?

Yes, they do, and I think they're the same number of pins, too. It would be very odd if they weren't the same, if both those things are true.

Yes, they are the same number of pins. On your diagram of the board connectors, how were you holding the connectors to assign pin numbers? The diagram is fairly symmetrical and I want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding

All the connectors are looking at the interface/face. All the numbers are the same pin assignments as stamped in the plastics of the connectors themselves, which are really hard to see but are there. So the graphic is a true pin# to pin# diagram. So if you are looking at the bottom connector, pin 1 would go to pin 19 on the micro connector at top.

Just a note on the Plus card and cable: As the user I believe outlines, there is a large pad adhered to the underside of the metal chassis. Pretty clear it is good to have. I will get pic. That plus is set aside and I use another for testing. When I connected the cable the board came off the CPU. So that bad is both to prevent it coming off form regular use but also must put pressure on it to keep it on during install.

Found these images deep within my Mac archives. Not sure where I collected them from but adding them here for future reference.

Story of how you found it? I would like to enjoy the vicarious thrill of discovery. :)

I posted this in another Outbound thread, but for @cheesestraws' benefit:

Plug -- https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/hirose-electric-co-ltd/DX30A-28P-50/3977834

Housing for Plug -- https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/hirose-electric-co-ltd/DX-28-CV/3977844

For completeness, logic board/SCSI adapter/external floppy connector -- https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/hirose-electric-co-ltd/DX10-28S-50/3977829

I'm pretty sure these are the correct parts. I could be mistaken....
