Nubus video card photos

A question for the Nubus gurus out there. My IIfx has an Apple 8-24GC video card that only displays 640 X 480 on both an Apple 13 inch RGB and Apple 15 inch multiscan displays. The card has two simm slots, currently unpopulated, that take 64 pin, 1MB or 4MB, 100ns Simms, and no, the 64 pin IIfx Ram Simms don't work. I tried that...no good. My thought is that filling those slots would boost the resolution available.

Does anyone have any idea of a source for such Simms? I've looked at the usual sources and found nothing.

There are a few video modes supported.

The extra RAM (80NS or faster IIfx RAM not the slower 100NS you might have tried which is printer RAM) is GWORLD RAM, has nothing to do with video RAM. GWorld RAM is used as a buffer so scrolling large pictures is faster, plus a handfull of apps support it to speed things up. I have a couple Thunder/24's with DSP and 8MB of Gworld RAM, from what I recall it speeds up scrolling in photoshop (or seems to).

The 8.24GC is a cool card, are you using the control panel for it to enable acceleration?

Thanks for the link. I had read that once before but it's been a while. The ram I tried in the 8-24GC card was a pair of 1MB simms pulled from the IIfx when I upgraded it's Ram, so they should have been 80ns. The IIfx would not even boot with those simms installed in the card. In a discussion somewhere else on lowendmac it was stated that the IIfx Ram simms would not work in the 8-24GC, so I dunno.

The control panel for the card is installed. I confess to being somewhat perplexed by only getting 640 x 480 out of the card.

Well then you need real GWorld RAM, which is impossible to find these days. I got my 4MB SIMMs from an AVID Nubus capture card (targa 2000 Nubus based), which are very hard to find and pretty much leaves the card useless when you take any. I know IIfx RAM doesn't work in my Supermac Thunder/24's but I figured the people on LEM mac would have tried the IIfx RAM if they said it is compatible (I don't own a 8.24GC to know).

I know those simms are virtually impossible to find but threw the question out on the off chance someone on the forums would have a lead to a supply.

The 16MB simms in my IIfx were fabricated by Traq, so I'm curious if he might be interested in fabricating some of these 8-24GC simms. though the market would most likely be small.
