Hi all,

I haven't been collecting Macs for all that long, but if you look at my signature, I'm pretty happy with what I've come across so far.

My most recent haul was on the weekend, 5 compact Macs for $80. One was a Mac 512K that trips the CB, a Mac SE FDHD that has had the battery leak all through the motherboard, 2 SEs, and a Prodigy SE by Levco. This seems to be a pretty rare jigger, especially for Australia. This was an upgrade kit that piggybacked onto the existing SE motherboard. It has a Motorola 68020 processor, a 68881 FPU (I think?) and 2MB of onboard RAM. It is lightning fast, and works a treat.

Three weeks ago, I won a Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh for about $500 from eBay, which the previous owner never used. It came with everything but the keyboard, some boxes and the pen/leather goodies, but everything else seems to be in pretty good condition. I'm told it will arrive in the country on Monday next week, so I can't wait for that! It is stock standard, just the way I like my old macs!

Some of my other favourites are the Mac Plus, upgraded from 512K back in the day, my two //c's, and my G4 Cube.

My first post, glad to be part of the team!

That's a pretty respectable collection. Myself, while I find stock machines interesting,I prefer "improved" Macs. Like my Mac II with 50mhz 030 accelerator. It's always fun to pop the cover on a Mac and discover the unexpected.

I've only been collecting for a bit over 3 months, but I'm pretty happy with the collection so far. I've had to fork out some decent coin for some of them, next to nothing for others.

I'm now acquiring only bargains, the ones I really wanted cost me a bit but the rest can wait until I come across them. I had to actively pursue the //e, //c's and TAM, as well as the Cube, but slowly, I am finding others as I go on.

Your collection is fantastic, definitely the way I am headed and hope to achieve. How long have you been collecting yours?

Man, I miss my IIc so bad. I had hundreds of floppies for it and the printer for it. I remember playing pac-man on it all summer. I'm pretty sure my grandma threw the thing out though :/

How sure are you? For all you know, she has it stashed away for you in a box. Have you ever asked? You never know, you could get your drink on, your snack on, and your Mac on, all weekend!

I'm not really a collector, more of an accumulator. If I had more room I'd have more Macs and accessories. I've let go of a lot of stuff for lack of room. Apple two page displays are one. I know the owner of a Mac repair shop and I used to get a lot of items from him but I've had to be more selective about my acquisitions. Though I will take any Apple II stuff. You might say I'm a bit of an Apple II hoarder.

I've picked up a lot more Macs since I did my signature but they've changed the rules since I made it. Now you're only allowed a 255 letter signature. Mines almost double that.If I change it I have to go to 255 letters or less.

I hope to have one of everything, except obviously the really hard to get and expensive stuff, like a Lisa, Apple I, etc. I feel like I am getting somewhere, at least with the older stuff. I still need a lot to fill in the gaps, but I have a whole lifetime to come across this stuff. If I could find all that in 4 months, I wonder what I will have this time next year?

Great collection by the way!

Someone I know knew a guy who had these old Macs, so I thought I'd go and check it out. I grabbed the 5, but I'm hoping to go back and get a few more, I'm sure I saw Apple IIs, etc. I am hoping to buy the whole lot, because some of them are in bad condition and I need as many as I can get to repair the better ones. But if it turns out he has way more than I can ever use, I'll let you know. I think I got most of what he had, so I suppose we'll see. Good luck!
