the C500 is tanzania based... like the 4400.

how did you get OSX to work on there? I tried on my 4400 and everything from 10.0 to 10.2 KPs right after it starts booting.

I tried it using XPF 4.

Don't even think about shipping costs from France it's hideous
Agreed, says the Australian... Compared to getting things shipped here from the US of good ole A, anything in the EU or UK is insanely expensive

Yes, the CPU is soldered on on all Tanzania clones. However, there are G3 upgrades available that plug into the L2 cache slot, that are designed just for the Tanzania based Macs.
not right... there were tanzania clones taht used a ZIF socket for the CPU ;)

and there were g3 upgrades for this socket too...

EDIT: these machines were the ones with a tanzania with ZIF connector: Umax Apus 2000/3000 and SuperMac C500/600

the g3 upgrade for these machines: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/guest_rev1/powerjoltgmax/index2.html
Weren't the Umax c500 and c600 machines the only 603 based Mac's that used a zif processor?

the quoted shipping costs i got for a compact is 110

for a tower think 200 to 300 in shipping costs

it may be cheaper to come and get it your self

I have a Clone, a PowerComputing PowerTower 200e, but mine's a Catalyst with a CPU slot (thank the lord :p ) and 320MB RAM, oh and a G3/350. Not tried XPostFacto on it yet, but seeing as it works ok on the 8550 then it ought to work on the PowerTower too.
