This had to be the most worstest badish repaired mac I've ever seen. I had to sub in a plus analog board because the flyback transformer on the original was a paperclip soldered onto the wire, the capacitors were all replaced with 50v """made in china""" versions, and the board exploded once I checked everything was working. :(

DID I MENTION THE FLYBACK TRANSFORMER WAS A PAPERCLIP :O
Do you have any pictures of this monstrosity?  I'm curious how on earth somebody put a paper clip where the FBT belongs...

Excuse the dirty hands, just got done changing the oil in the car. :approve:

There was another paperclip on the FBT, but that vaporized in the earlier explosion.

What purpose was the paperclip serving on the FBT?
It was the metal piece that wraps around the outside part of the transformer, was soldered on to bridge a gap where the metal broke.

Only the 4th picture seems to be loading.

That's the standard chip for though it looks like it's a bit oxidized. You should be able to read it from a multimeter to one of the pins on the flyback transformer. It should read with some ohms since it is a dense winding of wires. But it should be cleaned up. Dirty conducts high voltage electricity.

Thanks~

Its a floppy that says "Castle 1", was in the drive when I brought it :p

I've ordered a few unformatted single and dual sided floppies from ebay so I'll eventually try and boot system 1 at some point.

OMG that black chassis is awesome!!!!  What'd you use to make it black?  I wanna paint all my machine's metal parts black, now. :D

It's rust encapsulator, you can get it at most autoparts stores or from amazon. Every brand is a slighly different color, this one happens to be dark black, which looks pretty nice when painted. It's very liquid, much more so than regular spray paint, which means it's very easy to get runs (had a few on this board, but eh, its internal so :p ).

Main purpose is that it neutralizes rust, finish is somewhere between matte and eggshell.
