My biggest conquest so far

Took the better LCII to home, dusted it, opended, took to parts (easy, no need for screws huraah! and washed and polished the case itself. Wondering if should wash the motherboard, there is some residue from the another, leaking LCII on the case and bit on the motherboard. However this unit doesn't have any leaks so far i can tell.

If nothing else, i thought to do some swapping - Quadra 650 motherboard to either IIci or IIcx case. The same PSU should work right? Or take PSU from the quadra 650 if that fits by any means without huge modding. The Quadra 650 case isn't excatly pretty.. i have 601 card for Quadra so it'd become quite nice machine afterall even losing the CD-ROM unless fit it to II/IIx case.. or taking the CD-ROM from either of the machines and use to make external CD-ROM drive with empty AppleCD SC box i have.

Any other suggestions for projects?

Swapped another RAM board to Classic.. not much of a help.

Sadmac:

0000000E

0000FFFF

Looks like an motherboard/RAM issue. Should get replacement motherboard but.. already have two working units and

one broken. Maybe that's enough for now

Shall keep this at work on desk just for the fun of it.

Put the LCII to parts, cleaned, washed and rubbed the case. The machine boots up nicely, have 10Mb RAM (actually 12Mb but motherboard only sees 10Mb) and System 7.5 inside. Nice! The 3.5" drive is acting oddly, need to clean it up well, or just replace it. Have 160Mb HD.

Nice find! I'll swap the 3.5" drive and add ethernet card later.

As this project continues of slowly, as the Classic is at work i swapped this morning the RAM to this unit and still get the sadmac:

0000000E

0000FFFF

I assume this indicates the motherboard RAM been fawlty. Too bad, no spare Classic motherboards around so far i can tell of.

I'm in a process of giving this Classic away next week, so took it under inspection once again. Told this had an sadmac -problem but wanted to be sure.

I thought i had removed the RAM expansion board before, but seems that i had not. So, after removing the RAM expansion board, it booted just fine, just not to 7.1 due lack of memory. So... i tested few more RAM boards and RAM modules, even the one i got sealed in a bag-board (brand new) with and without RAM, still the sadmac on boot. So it's an motherboard issue but this can still be used with System 6 for time being if nothing else. So istalled fresh System 6.0.5 Finnish to it.

At least it's alive!

Hi!

Is there anything you're going to trash (parts, dirty, leaked, etc.)? I'm on the look out for some free Mac goodies, so could you let me know if you're going to throw any old mice, cables, PSUs, or even Macs away? If there is, I might take some for free. Give me a list and I'll see about it...

Thanks
