Getting a Macintosh Plus 1MB! I have some questions

If I were to get a SCSI ZIP drive for the Macintosh Plus and a USB ZIP drive for the iMac G4, could I low level format the ZIP disk with Lido 7.56 under OS 9 on the iMac G4? Then format it on the SCSI ZIP drive on the Macintosh Plus? Would I be able to transfer software via the USB ZIP Drive on the iMac G4? If this would work, it would be the perfect solution.

I transfer files from os9 classic , which will read the mac zip format, whatever that format is i dont know and doesnt really matter, and put it on any mac with the zip extension (tested on my plus so I could load software on my external hard drive). I actually use a zip tools version on the plus and format there then put the disk in the usb drive then it mounts normally. I dont format alot just when getting a new disk.

There's really no need to low level format it on the iMac. You just need to format it on the Plus. Ideally what you need is a set of System 6.0.8 installer floppies, and one of them needs to contain a good hard drive formatting utility, and a SCSI Zip drive and one Zip disk. That's all. Those items alone will allow you to install an operating system and boot to it.

If you can score a Zip drive, a disk, and some floppies, I'd be happy to build a 6.0.8 install set and a Plus Zip boot disk for you. I just got a Plus today and set it up just like you want to so I can test it before sending your disks back.

Yes, that should work. PX21 or A133 batteries should work. You can also take three 1/2 AA batteries taped together in series.

I think you meant three AA batteries in series.

Three 1/2 AA batteries in series would yield 10.8V...

It happens to me too. You get too used to typing 1/2 before AA, and it comes out when you mean plain old AA.

You know what I didn't mean to come off arrogant earlier. Although I've been using a AA rechargeable I guess I only wanted to say it could work for you as well, not to brag.
