Mac Plus 1MB: Stuck at Happy Mac

So, I received the floppy emu package from BMOW the other day. I've gone through all the steps for getting the firmware updated for Macintosh and read through the docs on the various different combinations of system utils images and OS images and I've tried both in hard disk mode as well as floppy mode. In both modes, I am able to get the machine to boot to the Happy Mac screen but then the activity light on the emu stops blinking and the read completes, but nothing further happens on the Mac. There is a very subtle clicking sound emanating from the machine while sitting at the happy mac, but it doesn't sound like the floppy read head, though... maybe it is?

Some of what I read online suggests that I need the HD 20 image first and then need to load the OS image, but I'm not sure how to do this with the floppy emu. So here I am, seeking assistance. If I failed to provide some information that would be useful in troubleshooting, please let me know. I'm very new to all of this so I'm almost certain I missed something.

Do you have a floppy you can boot from, and then load a floppy image on the FloppyEmu to confirm the Plus is working with it?

Unfortunately I do not. The floppy emu is the only media I have at the moment. I’m trying to find a way to source some OS disks without paying the EBay markup. If you know anyone able to produce them I’d love to get in touch!

The ticking is normal if the machine is on but a disk has not yet been inserted.

Mystery solved.

After doing some more digging, I stumbled on to a Reddit thread of someone who was having a similar issue. The key I noticed was that their "Happy mac" looked the same as mine and, apparently, it's not a real happy mac. It's a Happy mac with a sad mac background. The thread concluded with the discovery of a bad RAM module. With this knowledge, I started looking more at the physical hardware and discovered that what I originally thought was an unclipped R8 was actually clipped... the machine does not currently have 4MB of RAM installed so I re-soldered the clipped leg and it booted up perfectly.
