Custom Alerts broke

One of my favourite things to do on old Macs is set to "Custom Alerts". That is you set what the Mac says out loud to you before reading a piece of dialogue. I have made it say all sort of silly things like "all your base are belong to us", some of them are rather long and I just kept adding expressions. Now they have been randomly disconnected so that instead of "All your base are belong to us", its "All your base" and "belong to us". Anyone else ever has this problem and is they any way to fix them without having to manually correct them all or delete them and start over?

I just deleted them all and started again. So now I know fun as it is, it does have a limit if you overdo it, having said that most people probably won't encounter this issue, you have to put in a lot of alerts before you run into problems.
