Well, a friend and I have made a deal with a local charity (Computers for kids, they put together computers for the less fortunate....and children too, apparently). They receive a lot of stuff from Donations, but half of it they can't use, so they recycle it. But, they don't have neough time to do so. So, a friend and I made a deal with them: We'll haul the stuff to the recycler weekly, and in return we get to keep whatever we want from it. Now, 90% of the stuff they recycle is just too old, or is of no use to them (they don't use Mac's, so they all get chucked into the pile, as well as any SCSI or other things), and actually works.
now, today, I went there, and got some very interesting things.
I got (and remember this is all free, and in good condition unless otherwise noted)
-20 AppleDesign Keyboards, in nice shape (they all work, I'm told, but they had no use for them)
-1 Teardrop ADB mouse
-1 Macintosh Plus mouse
-2 SCSI external Hard disks (1 is from LaCie)
-1 NEC Multisync 17" LCD (in perfect shape, and works perfectly - No idea why it got recycled)
-1 Dell Poweredge 2550, 2U server (minus hard drives, but everything else is there, a very nice find)
-1 Dell PowerVault 2005 SCSI Array (with 7 8-o Seagate 73GB 10K RPM Ultra-3 drives, in sleds. It goes with the Poweredge listed above))
-1 Compaq Proliant DL360 1U Server (again, minus Hard disks, but with everything else, and 2GB of RAM)
-2 Compaq Proliant SCSI arrays, each holding 8 drives (but no hard disks are installed :'( , these go with the Compaq server above)
-Some 8-bit IBM cards (HDD contoller, etc). These are very hard to find
-3 PCI SCSI Cards
-1 Intel i960 Card (seems complete, no idea what it's used for)
-11 Laptops 8-o (Ranging from 486's all the way to Pentium III's. Most are complete)
-a couple HP Vectra Workstations
-a box of PS/2 keyboards (in good shape)
-about 20ish Pentium II CPU's, from 266 to 450Mhz (I was picking them up off the floor), as well as pair of Pentium II Xeons , 1 Athlon
I'm sure I'm missing some stuff. I filled my Van right up.
And this is Just ONE weeks worth, not counting all the junk I actually sent to the recycler (!). It's gonna be a good year I think
Hopefully more Mac stuff in the future...
