Auto Eject Mod

Hey ;)

I would like to buy a Quadra 605 board for a Classic Mac Hack. I know these came with a Manual Eject Floppy drive.

Is it possible to fit an Auto Eject drive to a Q605/LC475?

My project requires an auto eject drive otherwise I'll have to cut bits off the bezel and it will look sh*t ;)

As far as I know, the change is in the floppy drive unit itself. The specs on the floppy port itself remained the same. Meaning you should be able to use any auto-inject drive. Granted I have not tried auto-inject on some of the later models.

Yes you can.  LCIIs and LCIIIs came with both/either without changing anything about the logic board.  Further, I've accidentally switched them and wondered why floppies wouldn't fit in bezels right!

only issue is chassis as the slot does not align correctly.  so if your doing a hack, make sure the slot lines up to put in the disk.

Yeah that's what I thought too.

Since the chassis is going to an issue, I might just swap it for another one. It might work best for my mod (I want to put a Q605 board inside a Classic)

Does the SE/30 chassis fit the Classic bucket & bezel?

The Classic and Classic II both had auto-inject, so if you mate an auto-inject with the 605 board (which works), your floppy will be fine.  Keep the stock Classic floppy drive in there, and you won't have any chassis issues. Trying to put a manual-inject in the Classic chassis could also work with some shimming/offsetting/angling.  It'd be easier to go with the floppy drive that was designed for the case/chassis.
