Any interest in 16MB Mac IIFX memory modules?

So I asked Doug if I could use his design to make some modules and sell the rest to people to which he was fine with. I wanted to see if there was any interest in these. Obviously each FX would need a minimum of 4 modules, IE 64MB of ram.  These boards are 4 layer, so it's not the cheapest to make and the ram is not super cheap either.  It would most likely be around $25-$30 per module.  Any interest?

Sure. There's also another ongoing thread over here where a few of us have already expressed interest.

I'm interested!  I'm waiting for anyone to make a set, really. :)   I'd like to get 128MBs into my IIfx.

There’s been a shortage of IIfx RAM for what feels like forever so I’m hopeful there’s room for both of you.  :)
I'm sure there is enough room for both.  Count me in, and interested as well.

I'm thinking I might be interested in 8 of them.  I don't have the IIfx but it might be nice for one day...

Ok so I just tested the ones I got and they work fine. I'm ordering 100 boards which should be here next week.

So basically I'll be making 25 sets of 4. Seems better to sell them in sets of 4 rather than 8 since some people probably won't want 128MB heh. This is probably the only run I'll do since it's so time intensive...especially since it's gonna be 100 modules.

If people want to assemble it themselves, I can provide the kit...it might save something like $5? I dunno at this point heh.

On the one hand, these are almost certainly an investment. A IIfx with 128MB will command a much higher price than one with merely 32MB, and surely the price-difference will be greater than the $240 required for the new RAM.

Sets of 4 are a good idea. 64MB RAM in a IIfx is almost obscene, but the extra 48MB will make a useful RAM disk. It also allows more apps to run on Mac OS 8.1.

I do want to buy some though.

Please put me down for eight sticks if you haven't sold out. 128 may be overkill but extra application memory combined with a big RAM disk really increases the machine's utility.

I'll start making a list when I get them, but I'll give priority to the people who expressed interest here first.  I'm shooting for $25 a module with a min of 4.

I made a two layer version out of the schematics that fly around on the interwebs because cheap:

Couldn't get them to work reliably yet because of the whole PCB thickness thing.

If you wiggle them around before use and put on rubber bands they are ok for a while.

What thickness did you choose for yours? I ordered some in 1.6mm as well as 1.2mm from JLCPCB.

1.6mm is really tough to get into the socket and 1.2mm is more on the floppy side of things. :/

Well my first ones were 1.6mm, but they are WAYYY too hard to get in/out of the socket. I basically had to wriggle it back and forth multiple times for it to fit in the socket and getting it out felt like I was going to rip the whole board with it. I measured the original ram I have here and it's around 1.2mm, but if it needs to be a little bigger, then I'll do some tricks I guess heh.
