I finally have a beautiful 540c in my collection. It is clean overall, works 100%, has 320 meg hard drive, 20 megs ram, floppy etc.. and no case yellowing or damage.. hard to find like that for the price too.. thanks to 3lectr1cppc for pointing it out!

Excellent! Looks like the same exact config mine's in - 320MB HDD and 20MB RAM as well. That's plenty of RAM in my books.
Get those batteries apart and gut the cells while they're still somewhat intact! Those packs can be rebuilt. Even if you're not planning on doing so now, there's no harm in saving the BMS hardware in there before it's destroyed.

Nice find and congrats!

I need to find a second battery for my 540c :)
I have the 540c, 540, and 520c plus a recapped 520 display that needs a body. Might have an extra battery, will have to dig through all my stuff.. will see

Well I have a 520 that is relatively clean, no cracks, hinges seem good and strong, and the unit does work (20MB of memory, 240MB-ish drive). The only issues on it are: 1.) no batteries 2.) missing the rear port cover. 3.) I think this might be related to the lack of a working PRAM battery or something but if the unit has been unplugged for a bit, when you power on the contrast is at the brightest setting so the screen is washed out but you can just use the buttons to reduce the contrast to normal and then the display looks fine. Basically the contrast setting isn't being saved across after it's been unplugged for a while. It's also not recapped yet. Was going to put it up for sale soon.

Congratulations. That's a lovely machine. These were brand new when I had "computer class" as a 4th grader. I was accustomed to the block-like 100 series and this looked like the future to me. There was a bank of them in the lab and seeing the flashing sleep lights was incredibly cool.

The fact that they have ethernet is incredible and makes life now much easier to get things on and off of them. Enjoy the machine!
