20 slot expansion box

Picked up a 20 slot expansion box for my 5,1 Mac Pro. Actually two expansion boxes but only one one interface card for the Mac Pro. One Stop Systems Max Express. A little loud with 3 large internal fans. Thought about disconnecting 1 or 2 fans as I can’t see myself ever filling it but the way everything fits together makes that more difficult

Finally got around to taking a pic

Not vert visible but it contains 3 hard drives on cards and a USB 3 card. Now I just need something for the other 15 slots202 copy.jpg

Would/could this be used as an alternative to fiber for a video editing rig?

Or would it be used to populate cards for sound editing like a ProTools thing?  Or both?

It basically just adds more PCIe slots to my Mac Pro.

Anything that fits in a PCIe slot should work.

The Mac Pro SATA ports has a top transfer speed of 3 gigabits per second. The PCIe slots have about twice that speed so I'm booting off a SSD on a PCIe card. I have 1 OWC card for a SATA drive. I also acquired free NVMe hard drives out of a water damaged Macbook Pro and Macbook air. I gambled and bought a couple of Chinese PCIe cards for I think it was $12. The company said they weren't bootable but they are.
