IBM 2.5 SCSI Server disks

These are great, 5ms random seek time and almost no noise at all. To put them into anything with a 50 pin SCSI cable, you need an SCA 80 pin to 50 pin adapter.

How have you set up termination? It can be tricky with budget adapters.

I agree. These work well with adapters. If you can't get the good adapters from @max1zzz I've had luck using in-line terminators right before the adapter.

If you watch eBay you can sometimes buy these in groups of 5-10 for a very good price per disk.

The jumpers are set to REM and ID0, because that's what they came with.
Nothing else on the bus, worked in a SE/30.

Not at all, that's why i recommend these. Had a lot other disks that are noisy.
The 10k RPM model seems somewhat rare, because usually customers in datacenters don't care about noise and so 15k is more common.

Also they seem to come in different sizes, 36GB has the lowest amount of platters.
Space for days!

I have a few of these, I agree they are nice.

Note that with the adapter you have you do not have any termination and there is no termination on these drives either, it's working by the grace of the SCSI gods. Plugging in another device on SCSI bus would likely anger them...

I was searching out a SCA to 50 pin adapter and found this on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/CERRXIAN-Female-Adapter-Converter-Computer/dp/B09G27DNN4/ It claims to be a SCA to IDE adapter using a 50 pin header. I'm sure it's a typo but... was there a 50 pin IDE standard?
