I want a PM6100 now. :D
Hello--I was seeing some posts about PB100 batteries that you were making. Is that still something you have available? I would love to have a battery for my PB100. Thank you!

Making them is kind of a pain... But yes I sell them on Ebay.

Thank you--I actually ordered one from you yesterday. Looking forward to receiving it, but I understand if it takes time to make it.
Thanks again!
Odds aren't good given hard to find parts but gonna try...

Well, after recapping everything, it powers up to a blinking green light and then eventually a solid green light. I then believe it attempts to print a test page and the printer comes to life, but then it stops and the red jam light goes on. It feels like it's unable to suck in a page from the paper cartridge. Will need to debug further when I get some more time.
Hi Max1zzz,

I also am quite interested in the SCSI Card for The Rocket. Can you be so kind as to inform me when these will be ready for purchase next month?
Thank you for making these SCSI cards available to us Mac IIci Rocket owners! 😎 Very Cool Indeed!

Probably in the next month or two, the SCSI chips are on their way to me right now and the PCB design is done, just need get some PCB's produced and order the rest of the bits :)

Beige G3 running a 87.3MHz bus. :)
Swapped out the reference crystal.
ASP still thinks it’s 83.3.

@Snial I wonder how it’s doing it’s memory performance calculation.

Theoretical maximum is one thing, i don't think I've ever seen even 200+ in Gauge Pro. I'm unsure what it's using to calculate either.

"moving memory" = moving from one memory address to another = 1/2 the speed. If you add latency (333) you can subtract at least 50% again. Then there is wait-states from the controller, CPU and software induced (read-write cycle ... maybe with crc-check). The potential 266MiB/s memory (moving) throughput will more likely be maximum of 133MiB/s. Typical is about 1MiB/s per MHz so 87MiB/s would be considered normal.

I was able to fit a Cabletron Ethernet NIC into the SE FDHD - a bit tight with two floppies and an HDD in there. Had to cut some sheet metal from the HDD tray to get sane clearance. This was my final goal for this restored Mac, but after years of using it with serial PPP, it's fun enough with Ethernet that I may reconsider parting with it. :)

Coming right up! I'll have it open again b/c I have decided to try and fix the very slight jitter on the video. Why not go for 100.0% restored? 🤓 The parts (NP cap, diode, transistor) arrive later today.

Me complaining about my Beige G3 23 years ago lol

I really wanted to like Mac OS X when it came out, but I couldn’t. It took buying my first MacBook Pro in 2007 to properly feel comfortable with it.
My PowerBook 165 keeps on finding new ways to piss me off. Now, it cold boots without sound or trackball/keyboard input. After doing a hard shutdown, and powering on again, it works normally. What in the hell… I’ve already replaced so many parts in this machine.

Yes @Snial I’m pretty determined to get it fully working.
My 180 is better behaved.
Both are maxed out with rebuilt batteries.
I like having one of each type of greyscale screen (passive and active) with their relative pros and cons.

The PB1xx series were special, because they revolutionised laptops. I had a PB100 (which I loved) until it got stolen when I accidentally left it in the foyer of the Kilburn building at Man Uni in 1998. I borrowed a PB150 for a couple of weeks a bit later (clunky, but cheap & had IDE drives).

Uhh.... LCD from a dead powerbook duo 280c which I scraped the polarization film off of (it was trashed). Finished recapping it and was testing it to see if I could see anything using a circular polarizer lens... but got this:

You've been more frugal than me. My list is:
  1. 2006 MacBook Core Duo in 2010, died in Jan 2014.
  2. 2012 Mac mini Core 2 Duo in 2014 - still works!
  3. 13" MBP 2018 in August 2018, sold on eBay in 2022.
  4. MacBook M2 in Spring 2022.
