I think I will leave the Lisa collecting to the purists because if I had one I would hotrod the hell out of it.

There is nothing wrong with a "hotrod" Lisa.  I have 3 "SuperLisa's" and there is continued new Lisa hardware development.  The Lisa is an open-architecture system that was designed to be enhanced (like the Apple 2 line), adding to the system does not make it any less a Lisa.

Well the first thing I would do is perform modifications to get that clock speed up to at least 16Mhz. as it sits stock, its slowwwwww.....

My widget drive is still working after all these years. But a little gereatric....

I have to be carefull that the power plug is at the right plcae. To check I have a multimeter to check if I get a nice 12V on one of the pins.

The disk likes to be warm when I start it. So I leave it close to central heating for an afternoon. Then I also need to help it get spinning a little bit.

But when it is on...it works!

Mine is the same way - it needs a little push to get the platter spinning if it's been sitting for a while, but will then LOUDLY spin up. It gets quieter after a while, and still seems to work OK.

Fingers crossed... I don't really want to spend the money on the modern alternatives, but I probably should.

I would like to know if these disks can be “repaired”. Is it possible to grease it or replace parts to get it running better?
