Turbo040 in Lot on Ebay

Kind of pricey for a machine missing the hard drive (no software for the Photometrics card). I think that card is just a capture card for a CCD camera used in science labs back in the day.

Doesn't seem like such an outlandish start or BIN price, considering the hike classic Macs have taken lately. Also considering what those Daystar 040s go for alone.

Yes, the Daystar upgrades alone seem to go for prices in that ballpark these days.

Ah, for the days when Shreve Systems was closing them out at about $3 each...but $15 shipping.

Times do change I guess. Oddly enough I have a bunch of IIci 040's including Daystars, Mobius and whatever but none of the 030 models. Are the 030's as expensive these days?

Even moreso I think, as they are somewhat less common, and legend has it, more compatible with older software which runs on the 512x384 screen.

I am happy I found what I have over the decade. Oddly enough I even got lucky with some SE CPU upgrades over the last year or so (somthing I didn't think I would find).

The cache cards for the Daystar 040 are hard to come by, I have 2 without (once overclocked to 57Hz or something like that with a heatsink and fan, so the cache probably would not work anyway).

Hey guys, I ended up buying this. There is no rom SIMM in the system, do these have to have a socketed rom, or are some soldered to the logic board?

The IIci always shipped with the ROM chips soldered to the board. The ROM socket was never used. In case you're curious, the four ROM chips are near the front right of the logic board, under the drive tray.
