Radius TPD/SE BNC->Monitor connection woes . . .

Trash80toHP_Mini

NIGHT STALKER

.  .  .  dunno if the problems are really down to the level woes yet., but could well wind up there.

BNC cable info from the Vintage Radius Documents at mainly neatstuff:

Pin 01 _____ Inner Pin _____Green Video

Pin 02 _____ Outer Pin ____ Green Ground

I used a pair of F<->F header jumper wires to connect the headers on the TPD Card to the proper(?) pins on the HD-15 VGA end of the 5-BNC cable connected to my Radius PrecisionView 2150. I used the HD-15 cable pinout.ru and was hoping for legacy support, but so far no joy on the splash screen.

One good omen though. I get a solid power light indicator, it flashes slowly when there's no connection or an out of sync connection, so that's all good at least that far. [:)] ]'>

First off, since it's an SE PDS card, neither SE nor VidCard knows a single thing about Slot Manager, Declaration ROMs or the splash screen/driver setup held within. Could the problem be as simple as needing the proper drivers loaded at startup to initialize the card and then show me the splash screen before getting down to work?

OOPS! Forgot to beg for a copy of or a link to Radius.sea.hqx***

I was able to reproduce (sort of) the green bomb shrapnel image. This time memory got whacked before the Bomb screen appeared and the TPD failed to display an image. However when I powered the SE down, the TPD exhibited a lost connection to an "all black" displayed image. Interesting thing about that is that the closing image was in white, which leads me to believe that the there might be legacy support for the original BNC TPD Card's output when connected to the green input only. If not I may need to tie green to R&B inputs to escape what appears it might be a "green screen of confusion."

*** verbiage from the much missed Mac Driver Museum:

Radius.sea.hqx          *** RadiusWare Disks for Mac Classic / SE / Plus

This is a complete copy of RadiusWare for the
Mac Classic, Mac SE, and Mac Plus.  It
includes an installer program that will
determine what files your system will need to
work with your installed Radius Products.
                            It includes the following software:

                                  RadiusWare CDEV v.2.0
Classic / SE / Plus Display CDEV v.4.1
                                  RadiusMATH v. 1.5
                                  Radius Accelerator v. 2.9
                                  Responder v. 2.0.2
                                  AppleTalk v. 56.0

This software is to be used for the following
                            Radius Products:

Accelerator 16 and 25 for the Mac SE

Full Page Display Interfaces for Mac
Classic, Mac SE and Mac Plus

                            Two Page Display Interfaces
                            for the Mac SE.

It also provides System 7 compatibility for
these products in conjunction with the proper
                            version of ROMS.

NOTE:  SOME OF THIS SOFTWARE WILL ONLY WORK
UNTIL YOU HAVE THE PROPER VERSION OF ROMS.
Please use the instructions for finding the
ROM revisions located in your RadiusWare
manual.  Once you have this information, call
your local Radius Dealer or Radius Technical
Support and confirm whether it is current.

NOTE:  This file is large in size and will
take a long time to download.

sePatch.sea.hqx         *** System 7.01/7.1 Patch for SE Accelerators

This archive contains the patch for the
Radius SE accelerator and System 7.01/7.1.
To install, take the "020 SE Accelerator Patch"
and place it in the extensions folder and
reboot.  Be sure to read the README file once
                            you have extracted the archive.

NOTE:  Plus Accelerator users, this patch has
been found to be unstable with 7.01 and
                            incompatible with 7.1.

These two unobtanium files will also be needed by the lucky purchaser of olePigeon's second Radius 16 Accelerator along with anyone having yet to successfully run their Radius FPD, TPD or Accelerator cards.

Thanks again, oP! [:D] ]'>

Dunno If my Radius16 ROMs support System 7 or not, with a little help we'll see.

Holy smokes!  Good job my friend.  Any progress on this?  My AstroMac has a TPD card connected to an Accelerator 25.  Its the two wire BNC connector just like yours, and I'd love to get an external screen up and going on that, but the chances of finding a working TPD monitor is nil.

Nap, got sidetracked after getting a little frustrated with the software side of things. I've been clearing the decks of plexi wreckage for Wednesday's twelve day staycation kickoff. Got three days playtime scheduled before the rug rat arrives and another five after he heads for home.

Like I said in your fab conquest thread, we'll get these cards up and running.  [:D] ]'>  Lemme know the ROM revs of your Radius 25 & TPD. Have you got a multisync that'll display that resolution? What OS was (is?) the Plus running?

For my part, I am not entirely sure what you are trying to do here. Maybe this will be of some use all the same:

I believe I have an SE/30 video card with a BNC connector. However, I also believe that I have a BNC to DB15 cable, which I have always presumed went with the thing. Is that perchance the missing piece of this puzzle?

My SE/30 has been dysfunctional for a long time, so none of this gear has been tested. I am, however, hoping to remedy my SE/30 woes in the next few months, and that would mean that I could have a look at these other bits and pieces.

Radius-TPD-SE-GREEN.JPG

SE Video currently borked with or without the TPD card in battery, but the cursor moves around on the TPD desktop just fine after the splash screen goes away. I'll take it! [:D]
