Pinouts -- PrinterPort -> Chips ?

My SE/30 is functioning perfectly except for the fact that I cannot get anything to recognize the printer port (serial port shows up) in things like techtool pro, OMS midi etc....

I must have burned a trace somewhere ? Looks like there are 8 pins on the printer port....Curious if this is something I can jump and if so, how exactly ?

Thanks for any help.

If one were to view a years worth of old posts in comp.sys.mac.system or comp.sys.mac.misc back in the late 80s or early 90s, one would probably find a dozen postings a month with the same problem. It's just been so long, we've forgotten the (previously) common problems and solutions.

Yep, Appletalk was awesome for its time, especially the part about using the non-implemented pair of wires strung throughout a single telephone line home.

But it kinda reduces the total number of serial ports to something like 1.5 for all practical purposes.

Ditto on the fossilized troubleshooting know-how front.

Erm, the printer port is a serial port!
