Lisa Paperweight, Cube, Upgraded Wallstreet

I haven't really posted on these forums but I thought I'd share a few of my 2018 findings.

Pictured:

  • G4 Cube and display (said it was not working on Craigslist - needed OS reinstall, drive is sticking)
  • Wallstreet Powerbook Upgraded to 500mhz via a Sonnet? (found this on Ebay untested for pretty cheap, I see one extension that says Sonnet but I haven't opened the machine to see what was installed - pretty happy with this unit)
  • Mac XL/Lisa 2 (this was on eBay locally for $500 in the Sacramento area, the pictures showed a LOT of corrosion and rust, I talked to the guy and he offered an invite to look at it. I went to his house saw the deterioration and offered $200 for something that hasn't been tested, but 99.99% sure most components do not work. 0

Wow, so you actually got the Lisa for $200? Even non working that's a steal!
I agree! The outer shell and CRT alone are easily worth that. And the boards may very well be fixable depending on how they are damaged.

I'll have to spend some time and take some detailed pics of the boards/insides. Not very familiar with the model so I'll likely ask for some help.

Assuming the proper OEM/reproduction parts can be found, isn't it fairly trivial to revert a MacXL to Lisa OS-compatible specs?

I've never used a Lisa in any way whatever, so I could just be spewing nonsense....

Congrats! I think I've seen that listing for the Lisa a few times (I'm in the SF Bay Area so Sac listings pop up for me sometimes) - I'm happy that someone here snagged it, and for a good price!

With the new Lisa logic boards being made by Sapient, given what you have, you should actually be able to make a functional Lisa without too much difficulty.
