Apple-branded DVD-RAM with Phase-change Dual logo on the front.

I tested a 650 MB PD cartridge in an Apple-branded DVD-RAM player since it has the PD logo on the front. DiskUtility and FWB HDT can see the cartridge but cannot format the disk. Is there a way to make it work?
