Wordperfect 3.0 glitch

Trying to run WP 3.0 under OS 9.1 on a G3 Beige Power Mac.

Although the program loads and documents will open any movement using the mouse highlights alll the text then locks up.

Moving down with keys works downwards but move up and it locks.

I used to run it quite fine under os 8.5 on my PowerMac 8100AV

Anyone have any suggestions of how to fix this?

any help appreciated :beige:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there was eventually a WP 3.5 for Mac. (I don't really follow Word Perfect because I'm a MacWrite guy but I think I remember hearing about it). Contact Corel to see if you can somehow get an upgrade.

Scott's memory is excellent -- yes, 3.5e was released as a free download, along with an all-important updater that fixes several bugs under OS8/9 (probably including yours). I downloaded 3.5e for my sister a year or so ago, and she was quite happy.

A quick search suggests that Corel has pulled it from their site, and forced others to do so as well. Perhaps you'll have success locating it with a more thorough search than the one I just ran.

What would make you think that Corel forced that? While they are unwilling to devote server space for products they have released for free to the public (and are years out of date), they have never asked anyone to stop providing them from other sites. Usually if the links die it has to do with the host losing interest in providing space/bandwidth.

On that note, you can find WordPerfect 3.5e (including the Mac OS 8/9 update) and Corel Graphics 8 LE (which includes CorelDRAW and Corel PHOTO-PAINT) here.

I was basing my supposition on a supposition (which is why I used the term "suggests") of a colleague at Cal State University at San Bernardino (which used to host a download and support site). I'm glad that it was just my paranoia gland over-secreting, and that there remains at least one download site. Thanks for providing the link!
