Haven't popped it open to see yet. I'm tempted to just get the correct case for a 512Ke and transfer everything over. My Plus is an upgraded 512 with analog board issues, so I'm tempted to get the chassis with a known good analog board and front panel for a Plus, swap my board into it, and call it good.

Finally got the photo of the motherlode from my buddy...

This was from the first trip. Second trip was 90% Mac, 5% Atari, and 5% Apple II. Third trip was 90% Mac, 5% TRS-80, and 5% Apple II. Vehicle used for the hauling of computer parts was this:

A 1984 Volvo 245 wagon.

Just got the Turbo 601 accelerator. At first, thought it was dead. But, popped it into the spare IIci and was able to get Dougg3's favorite startup chime (the PowerMac 5200/6200 one), so tried again in the main machine. Sure enough, it started working. The 601 is a 100MHz chip. IIci does feel a bit snappier than usual, even while running 68k only applications.

I also picked up a 230MB Apple-branded SCSI hard drive for $20. Alas, it has some bad blocks, so Apple HD SC Setup wouldn't touch it, but APS PowerTools was able to initialize it and get it working. Backed everything up from the 250 that's inside the IIci to it. Plan to reinitialize the 250 using HD SC Setup, then restore everything to it. After I do that, I'll run DiskWarrior 2.1 and write an optimized directory to the 250MB drive.

Did some work on the II. Machine originally came with one 800K floppy and a 5.25" 40MB Rodime SCSI drive. The Rodime seems to be unformattable, even with APS PowerTools. So, it's going to be junked. Will be installing an 80MB 3.5" Quantum ProDrive 80S in its place, with System 6.0.8 and a bunch of vintage Mac games installed. I've replaced the 800K floppy with two Superdrives. Now just need to source the updated ROM chips and the SWIM chip to complete the upgrade. PRAM batteries have been removed. Need to convert the machine over to the newer style batteries for ease of replacement.

Pic with the lid removed:

Lid installed - digicam had trouble focusing on the platinum gray expanse, so had to apply a bit of edge sharpening in GraphicConverter, hence the dithered appearance.

Monitor used will probably be the Apple High Resolution Monochrome monitor that came with the system. Also had a Color Pivot LE with it, but that's earmarked for the second IIci.

If you can get the 601 to boot 8.6, and I am told it's possible, you can even run Classilla on that. I had one determined user max out the IIci's RAM and installed a 601, and booted 8.6; it was "poky, but it works."

Thanks...

Hmmm, interesting. I do know that my old 7100 ran 8.6 no problem, so it probably would work.

Yesterday, I received a copy of the Apple IIgs Dealer Diagnostics (thanks maceffects). Tomorrow, it looks like a SuperMac Spectrum 24/PDQ+ video card for the IIci will be at the post office, awaiting pickup.

A few days ago, I received an A9M0106 Apple 3.5 Drive, which is currently connected to the Laser UDC in my //e. Need to get another FDHD mechanism, so I can turn it into an external Superdrive.

Got a cx with Quantum LP seris ProDrive hard drive, SuperMac video card, etc, coming off evilBay. Makes clicking noises when power's applied. So, probably something's shorted somewhere - one of my SE's did the same thing when I made the mistake of directly connecting the floppy mechamsim of my UniDisk 3.5 to the floppy drive port. SE was fine after that experiment, btw.

IIcx should be here tomorrow. May also be picking up a friend's old Strawberry iMac G3/333 in the next day or two. Comes with the mouse, keyboard, a matching SuperDisk drive, and an Epson Color Stylus 740i printer, all for $25. Plan to install some early learning programs on it and give it to my niece for her 5th birthday in early July.

Well, guess my buddy's white balance was off. Machine's a tangerine iMac. Looks to be the stock configuration (no, haven't powered it up yet - waiting to do so when the kid isn't here, so I can get things set up without her knowing what's up).

In other news, popped the 230MB drive from the cx into the HD20SC hard drive case. Hooked it up to my normal IIci and found that it had 7.5 on it, but, I guess the system file was built for a II, IIx, SE/30, or IIcx, since it kept giving me error messages when I'd try to boot up the other IIci. Copied the System Folder from the IIci's hard drive over to it, so it should work now. Free upgrade to 7.5.5. Installed the drive in the other IIci, since the 230 that was in it has some issues. Think it's trying to imitate the 230 I had in my old Centris 650 way back when.

I got a working g5 dual that just needs some ram. It needed a processor, I replaced one but put all my ram in another one.

A pretty clean iPhone 4 in black with 16GB for $150 last Friday. Came with charger block, USB cable, earbuds, car charger, OtterBox case, and the original box for the phone. Verizon. Activated it Saturday. $10 extra per month on the plan, but big whoop.

Congrats! I still think that the iPhone 4 and 4s are the pinnacle of the modern cell phone design. I'm sure it will be outdone with the next major revision, but the iPhone 5 hasn't impressed me at all either with it's look or un-competitive new features that were supposed to put them back on top of the cell phone game.

And thanks for saving that poor iphone 4 from the dumpster! :p

Thanks. Even the 3GS is still a fairly decent phone. The 4 replaced a Samsung Alias 2 LDP (Less Derpy Phone™)...
