Wallstreet battery serendipity

A Wallstreet battery that was bought new from China about 2 years ago, that worked only for a few months, and that had been boxed awaiting recycling, last night sprang to life on being inserted into a machine that I have been getting ready for service again. I was sorting through some Wallstreet odds and ends and was mainly merely trying to identify what the boxed bits and pieces were. To my astonishment, the "dead" battery that I shoved in just on speculation showed up immediately on insertion with three of the lights lit in the Control Strip (OS9.2) and then right away proceeded to take about a 2 hour charge. It will shortly be cycled and recharged, as the usual advice on batteries suggests. Hopefully it will not die again as a result!

Given that I had tried previously maybe a hundred times to achieve this and failed (the battery would not show up and would not take a charge, despite the usual battery resets and open firmware procedures), it is interesting to see that occasionally serendipity can take over where even informed efforts fail.

The moral of the story would seem to be to hold onto failed Wallstreet batteries and persevere rather than to chuck them out too quickly.

I check batteries on 2 known working machines just to make sure the charging board in the one I first used isn't dead.

My original post was a bit confusing because of the talk of two machines. It is possible that the charge board is flaky, but the board (and entire machine) in question is the same one that charges another battery just fine and the same one that had been unable to recognize the dud battery for over a year. Then all of a sudden, "lightning strikes."

i too have one but its working without any flaw
