Upgrading a dual G4/450 processor with something stock Apple

Are there any faster Apple G4 processors that will work on my Sawtooth besides a dual or single 500mhz module? I've been trolling eBay and see several pulled processors from faster G4 systems quite cheap.

The processor from a Digital Audio will work. One thing you would have to do is change the cpu multiplier resistors. They tell the processor to run at so many times bus speed. your machine has a 100 mhz bus while the DA has a 133 mhz bus so without that resistor change a 533 DA cpu would only run at 400 mhz. The instructions are easily found online.

You can modify the Sawtooth motherboard to take a CPU from a Quicksilver, but this requires removal of one of the IDE connectors and the need to wire a +12V line to the CPU.

Also make sure you get one of the better CPUs with L3 cache, as some of the lower-end ~ 733 - 933Mhz CPUs lack this and can perform about the same as a stock Sawtooth CPU, in some tests.
