Tamil language on OS X

My friend would like to be able to display Tamil pages on an eMac 1.42 GHz running Leopard, so his mom can use the computer when the PC is down because of viruses.

Currently, all pages show up as empty boxes or boxes with a squiggly line inside of it. I tried all browsers, even the anemic Internet Explorer.

Here is a page in Tamil: http://ta.wikipedia.org/

The "additional fonts" are installed with the Leopard installation. Still, everything shows as boxes.

Can you post what your squiggly boxes look like. I'm not fluent in Tamil, but when I clicked your link in Safari 3.2.1, I got the following.

Looks good to me! I've just got a normal Leopard install, albeit with all languages and international options enabled.

Looks fine here too – and I can't remember installing any extra languages when I installed OS X.

Do you have the Additional Languages and stuff installed?
No but I have all of the Additional Fonts installed. The additional languages, none of them were Tamil or even Indic script, the closest one was Arabic and I think I even tried putting that.
