TAM - 2 Fans on the back - only 1 spinning

Hey,

i am a now a lucky owner of a TAM in a really good shape.
Everything is working so far but one thing I have noticed, that the second fan on the back (the one that is not in the area of the replacable cover) is not spinning.
Is that normal? My thoughts are, that the second one eventually spins only if a certain temperature in the case is reached.

Congrats garehard!

My experience is that this fan rarely spins, and when it does it's certainly not to the degree of the fan near the HD, and the sound of the subwoofer fan drowns out anything else on the unit itself. This can is kind of useless. A few weeks ago I added an additional molex connector to the 5.25" CD drive to run a slimline 80mm fan at the bottom (fat back) cover, pushing air up through the vents and through. I'm finding that even with better cooling, the sub and internal HD fan both ramp up and down consistently.

Not sure in this case, but sometimes fan speed is based of the power being used, rather than temp.

Thank you all! One another thing is that my TAM beeps 5-6 times during idle. Unfortunatly google tells nothing about it.

Yes, and it is possibly the most annoying thing about the TAM if you have the sub close by, as it ramps up and down in speed all the time! It’s basically a 6500 PSU along with the subwoofer No chance of me pulling the sub apart though unless I absolutely have to.

Re: cooling, I’m finally happy with a slimline 80mm pointing diagonally upwards inside the “fat back”, CF card and full size USB/FW card. It gets warm but CPU never exceeds 42deg C @ 500Mhz
