Silly Software search story

OK, I just did this, and not sure why really. ;-)

Cleaning up my Mac Classic recently, I saw that it has MS Word and Works on it.

Both registered to someone.

So I deleted all the docs, etc..

Then I came across a re-registration program for Word on the Garden, and I ran that to remove the other persons name and replaced it with mine.

Not really sure why.

But it gets sillier...  ;-)

I then started to look for something similar for Works 2...

Didn't find, so I went looking for Works 2 disk images.

Found one on the Garden that was preregistered to a fake one word name and organization.

That might.. er.. that screen doesn't look the same...

That is Works 2.00b..  This Classic came with 2.00d!!!  ;-)

So, I continued searching....

Finally found images of 2.00d that haven't been installed on Mac GUI.

So I can put this version on the Classic, and remove the other persons name...

And yet, I sit here wondering why I just did that.

I am not likely to really use Word, and less likely to probably use Works...

And did it really matter whose name was there?

And did I REALLY have to make sure it was the same versions???  (Not newer)...

After all this time...  Hmmm...

Umm..

Think it's been a long week...

But for some reason, I am glad I did that.  ;-)

I like using the name "All Mankind" with "All Around the World" as the organization.  It adds just a little happiness to my day to have the splash screen announce that

"This program is registered to

All Mankind

All Around the World"

Even if it is 25 year old software.

Sounds like something I’d do! I always have a healthy selection of productivity apps on my vintage Macs and PCs. Love playing with that stuff. And after all, it’s programs like that which made these machines successful.

Playing with the old word processors has actually improved my typing a lot in the past couple of years. A lot of times I’ll open one up and type a few paragraphs just for fun. I have pretty much mastered the IBM Model F layout by doing this. :)   I can type really fast on one of those.

I have been doing this with my new M0110 keyboard on my Macintosh 512k as well. Very nice keyboard also. :)  Really like the “clunky” sound it has.

This sounds really handy.  Can you share the link?  I can't find it.
