Recommended ROM version for Radius PrecisionColor 8•24X?

Hello,

We have two Radius PrecisionColor 8•24X cards (one in my 950, one in her 700 -- thanks, Jim!).  Mine came with ROM revision 1.2.1 (295-0005-04-A), and hers with 1.02 (295-0005-02-A).

To keep things consistent, I burned a 27c256 with 1.2.1 and put it into her card.  It's working well, but I'm wondering what the optimal ROM version for these cards is ... and where I can find an image.

Any advice?

Not of help to you... but I saw another of your other posts about the 24X. Can you tell me why you favour it so much? I saw one for sale recently - should I own one too?!

A long time ago, in another lifetime, I did prepress at a small regional newspaper.  We used Quadra 950s with Radius cards, mostly 24X (except for the station that did the classifieds, which used a Radius mono two-page display).

So when I lucked into a 950 awhile back, I scrounged for a 24X because that's what I was used to.  Maybe it's not the best or the fastest, but I knew I could get 1024x768x24bpp out of it with zero heartache :)

I'm partial to the Precision Color Pro 24X series, especially if you get one in the red or blue PCB.

Oh nice! My first job after leaving secondary school was working pre-press. But it was at a big book publisher.

This was 2000, so we had G4 towers by then (IIRC).

I find the Radius 24 card naming scheme quite confusing, but always have my eyes out for a 24X or similar... one day!
