Powermac g5 dual 2ghz

I picked up a g5 dual 2ghz today

it came with no ram, the fans in front of the g5s are missing, no video card and no ram (it does have a super drive though). Now i've looked up and it says it takes pc 3200 ram, but a pc 2700 stick fit fine, I don't know if it'll fit, but no cigar or what just wondering if anybody knows.

Also, I have a radeon 9600xt pc edition I can find info on flashing cards, but not this one exactly just wondering if anybody here knows how to do this card.

Just seeing if buying ram and all that is even worth it when I turn it on (no vid card, no ram, no nothing) the fans turn on it lights up and no beeps or anything just seeing if this is normal behavior for these machines in this state.

I picked it up for 100bucks and seeing as if flashing a gfx card and throwing in some ram will get it working I saw it is a pretty damn good deal and if it doesn't work meh.

As long as it is DDR memory it will fit. Whether the G5 supports it is another story...

You may need those missing fans too, but I would ask someone who has used one that actually works. The last one I worked on was to be a motherboard swap. One stripped G5, one too recent G5 motherboard, and one iMac G5 motherboard later the guy finally bought a working used G5. He should have done that int he first place....

When I unplugged the big case fan in my gigabit g4 to reduce noise, after a while, it became rather quirky.

You need those fans.

Get them.

Unless you like roasted G5 for dinner.

Also you can use an older Rage128 or any other Mac compatible PCI card just for testing purposes.

I used my old ixMicro card in my G5 (now sold) to test the machine before I bought it and it worked great.

Yeah I have an ati rage 128 from my G3 also I'll put in replacement fans I meant need as in the system wont boot with out them or something. I should be getting the ram either today or sometime this week so hopefully I'll have some good news about it .
