PowerMac G4 GigE issues

Hey there, new to the forums, but hoping you guys can help me out some.

About 2 years ago I got a PowerMac G4 AGP, GIgabit Ethernet version. Its a DP500, and I've upgraded it to 1GB of memory. I used it mainly for general computing for awhile, then tried installing OS 9 on it (with great success), then had to stick it in the closet when I needed more space on my desk. I pulled it back out recently to try and use it as a server running PPC Debian, but I then acquired a Mac Mini G4 which served that role much better. I decided to go back to OS 9, as in these more recent times I've acquired quite a few computers I run OS 9 on mainly (Pismo with G4 upgrade, TiBook 1GHz, iMac G3 600mhz). Problem being that I had formatted the hard drive (I was not thinking at all) and lost all the Mac OS stuff I had working previously.

So I'm back to square one. I have this CD that came with the computer when I bought it (from a small shop in a flea market, said it had the OS on it), and as far as I can tell, its OS 9.2.1, bootable, with quite a few additional softwares and drivers and updates on it. I had only just looked at it initially, then backed it up. I burned it back again and installed it, and it worked perfectly. Except the graphics...

Upon inspection, its been upgraded with a GeForce 4MX, I think 32MB. Its an official Apple card, its got an ADC connector, but AFAIK those were only in some of the latest MDD models. I guess the previous owner needed more graphics power. Under OS X it worked fine, and when I got it, it was loaded with correct drivers. But I don't think the ones that just come with OS 9.2.1 work correctly with it. The resolution and color are stuck in VERY low modes. I went looking and found a site that claimed to have the drivers under the name 'nvidia3.5drivers.sit', but alas, that link had died, and no drivers for me.

Another problem is the 9.2.2 update. I can still download and run it from Software Update on the control pannels, but every single time, it says it failed or something of that sort, and the computer then no longer gets to desktop. Its not like most crashes/freezes that I know of. It loads past the Happy Mac, to the 9.2 splash screen, and starts the progress bar. Then the mouse pointer disappears, and the progress bar stops moving about an eighth of the way across, no extension icons load on the bottom of the screen, and it just sticks there, and never fixes.

I've tested the hard drive, updated the disk drivers, done clean installs and tried installing the update again and again...no dice. Am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Atari

Wow, installing that fixed everything...Updates installed perfectly.

...And I just realized that is the link that everywhere pointed to, and I know for a fact it did not work when I tried it the other night.

But thanks for that, anyway!
