Okay, so I'm finishing up on some mods, and I'm kind of stuck on this one. I knew I didn't want to leave the logo white, mostly because I wanted something to stand out against the metal background, but now I can't really decide what I want to do with it.

Suggestions?

I'd make it a cool blue or something, with some (very) diffused LEDs behind it.

When I did that to mine I put an apple sticker behind it and it looked pretty ugly.

Rainbow?

Red Apple?

Spider?

Clarus?

Finder?

It's your book. What theme are you going for?

I see a red door and I want it painted black...

No colors anymore I want them to turn black.

(Two points to the person who can name the source of the quote.)

I say black. But it'll take a few coats to overpower the light. Or you could dismantle it and put a piece of thick paperboard or something behind to block the light.

rolling stones paint it black ( easy )

id prefer blue ( naturally) and it was black to start with so why paint it black again ?

Looking at this from a design perspective, i'll say paint it black. Two tone colour schemes are incredibly effective when used properly. At the moment you have 3 tones there, black, silver & clear. If you painted it blue, likewise you would have 3 tones.

Black & Silver all round though would just look mint, imho. :)

Could also just put a piece of black behind it to retain some depth, plus it's easily reversible if you change your mind.

Thanks for the suggestions. My project, with a working title of "Making an abused PowerBook look cool," is more or less complete.

Since I didn't want to buy an entire can of spray paint for one square inch, I scrounged up a dark blue piece of plastic that fit nicely in there, so it's blue now. I'll link to pictures of the whole thing when I get them.

If I find something else that could use up the bulk of a can of paint, I'll probably go ahead and paint it black.

Unfortunately, I couldn't really change the bottom logo (I was just going to pull off the plastic logo to expose the black plastic below, but there's a screw stud underneath the apple), so it's black, silver, and white on the bottom. Maybe if I find a thin sheet of glossy black plastic I can change it out.

For now, it looks pretty neat... for a weekend experimental project. If anybody is interested, I can write up a how-to for this.
