PowerBook 5xx ram mod?

Hi everyone!
I got my hands on a PowerBook 520c a little while back and was wondering with the ram card kind of expensive and hard to find on eBay, could I get 2 8mb ones (identical cards of course) and combine them on one board to make a 16mb card? If so, would it be practical? Any answers would be appreciated!

If they are like the Mac Portable, I cannot recall right now, and have extra unused solder areas for more chips, then you should be able to.  SMD soldering/de-soldering isn't easy though and the gain of only 8mb doesn't seem worth it.  Do you have a photo of the memory cards?

It’s my personal opinion that as long as the chips are right it should work. Be prepared to have some patience during the procedure.

Thanks. Always good to have an extra brain to spitball an idea with. Thankfully with the holidays, I have nothing but time right now so I may pull the trigger if I can’t get ahold of a 16 mb card.
