PowerBook 100 Series floppy drive not working - any ideas?

I've got a 100-series floppy drive (originally from my 170 - now in my 145) that doesn't read disks. It can detect when a disk is inserted, but will see any disk as unformatted. Trying a format results in a whole lot of nothing - the drive will just sit there without sounding like it's seeking at all and it will eventually fail. I've added new lithium grease to the stepper thingy (whatever that rod is called) with no change. @ThisDoesNotCompute had pretty much the same thing happen in his 145 restoration video from a while back, and wasn't able to fix it either. Is it a dead motor or can it be fixed?

Thanks!
