Got a quite nice Pismo not so long ago, in overall great condition but missing its case screws and the RF-shield. I managed to source the parts and put it together, also upgrading the RAM to max and installing an SSD. It boots fine and mostly works fine (OS 9.2.2), but here is where the oddities start (PRAM-battery already removed to rule that out).
The screen "mini-flickers" when doing CPU intensive tasks. This is not really obvious flickering, just minimal changes in the brightness that are barely visible, but it can be observed. However, this is not always happening, it comes and goes.
The second symptom is that it is not always charging the battery. It has a "good" battery that lasts 30mins or so, but when it is drained, it usually does not start to charge it. After it has been powered down for some time, or left alone and then reconnected to power, then it charges it - this also comes and goes, as sometimes it charges it directly...
I have also come to notice that when doing some gaming, that it drains the battery (albeit slowly) while also being connected to mains power! Not sure if related to this, but upon continuing, it froze, threw garbage on the screen and needed a hard reset. After that the battery was totally depleted, and it also did not charge it for days.
I have also tried it without a battery, the mini-flickering still persists.
Do you think this is a power issue or a logic board issue? If power, would it be with the battery charger board, or the DC-in/sound board? I do not want to just throw parts at it and hope something solves it...
Thank you for your input!
