OT 1.1.2, 1.3 updates:installer barfs, anyone else had that?

I can't remember if I posted about this already or not. I've got OS 7.6.1 on a Classic II 10/500 configuration. The OS came with Open Transport 1.1.1, and the latest updates of AppleShare that will work on that machine/OS need at least 1.1.2. Both 1.1.2 and 1.3 are available from Apple if you know where to dig them out of (I saved myself the trouble of rooting through SDKs and downloaded 1.3 from System 7 Today, but they're both legal downloads).

The problem I'm having is that the installer script — for both versions — thinks the files in the first disk-image folder in each case are the wrong ones, so they always bomb out without updating anything. Does anyone know if these installers put new resources anywhere, or can I just copy the extensions from the installer folders to their proper homes by hand?

Actually, I often end up wondering about that with various software that uses the Apple installer. Does anyone know how to read the Apple installation scripts? They appear to be in some sort of resource-fork format.
