OS 9 wallpaper

I have a problem here, Trying to set a wallpaper but i want a black background behind the wallpaper, every time I try what is described in another thread is the black picture I made to go behind the wallpaper becomes my background. What am I doing wrong?

Set the black picture as a "pattern", not as a "picture".

Then set the "picture" that you want to be on top.

Later today when I have access to my OS 9 machine, I'll take some screen shots showing you what to do.
