I got a nice AMS roadwarrier laptop for free from a teacher I knew several years ago.

Specs:

300mhz AMD K6 CPU -upgradable..it looks like a standard desktop CPU

3.02gb hard drive

96mb ram

CD & floppy drives

Best part: Battery lasts over an hour! I was so surprised to find out that a battery that is so old lasts such a long time!

The computer is in excellent condition...I doubt it was used much...came with manuals and restore CD too!

Now running windows 2000 quite decently actually....

Hey! Not bad! I used to have an old K6 compaq persario laptop myself, quite a trooper it was. Debian would also run nicely, but 96MB is a bit low for most GUIs.

Do you happen to know the bus speed on that laptop? I have a few AMD K6-2 chips that might work in there going up to 533mhz.

A while back I used to have a Presario with a K6 chip in it. While it was nice, it lacked a L2 cache which made it slower than it should have been.
