I have been wanting to modify an Asante SE/30 ethernet adapter card to remove the stock pass-through connector and replace it with a right-angled connector. My attempts so far haven't worked. Would anyone who has done this work before be willing to do it for hire?
what have you attempted, thing with most commercial soldering jobs is that it is soldered on both sides of the board, as the holes are lined with copper or tin and it is risky biz if your trying to save the card
There's a product called Chip Quik which is supposed to make this type of work easier. You paint it onto the joints you want to desolder and it lowers the melting point of the solder on only those joints. NB I haven't used it, but others swear by it.
