Music Production with an SE

Hi anyone making music with an SE? Interested to hear what software you’re using. I’ve got a 4mb SE with a Opcode translator on the way so just looking into software now. I’ve heard that digital performer 1.7.1 should work but I’d really like to find an early version. Of Cubase that does as I use v2.01 on my Atari.

Thanks.

I searched for keywords like “music” or “composer” on sites like Macintosh Garden and Macintosh Repository. I have some programs at home but I’m pretty sure there are many programs that only output mono audio. You’ll obviously want to filter out stuff that can’t run on older computers because it is made for a newer OS (OS 7.5.5 or older is safe). 7.5.5 will push your machine and it will need a lot of power dedicated to the music so keep that in mind.

I’m not looking for audio programs, but midi sequencers / DAW type programmes. Tanks for looking though, it’s appreciated 👍🏻

I use Cubase 2.5 to make music with my Quadra 650. It's a fantastic application. At first it seems rather primitive with its humble black and white interface but it is actually incredibly rich in useful and interesting features. It has an extensive MIDI toolbox and you can record up to four MIDI channels at once. I use it with my Roland Jupiter-80 and it is a lot of fun.
