I had been watching and waiting for a very long time, for a reasonably priced example of the HP 9000/300 (my first UNIX box was a 360, running HP-UX 7) and I picked one up recently, on eBay, for a best offer. Before purchasing it, I was reasonably certain that it was a 380, which was one of the best equipped of the line (after this model, they changed to a different form factor that was more all in one and less modular). I spent a few weeks going over it, and getting it cleaned up (I eventually disassembled the entire case to address some issues), but when I was done and finished putting it back together, it booted right up. Pics Below:
The CPU picture was taken while I had the board out for cleaning and to reseat the RAM and check the battery. I was really happy that I had a monitor that would display the output from the video card at its resolution.
My next steps are to put together an external SCSI drive for it and then, using some of my old installers, load a version of HP-UX, including the apps onto it and then get it onto my home network.
