Macintosh SE/30 Screen zapping.

Ok So my screen has those diagonal lines and I notice that the screen has like a lot of static electricity in it. I had my hand on screen and turned it on and it zapped the %#$& out of me. Any help?

I'd recommend switching out analog boards before you try to use it again. Try to find a working SE/30 analog board to use while you deal with the one in the machine now. And, if the screen still zaps you, then you'll know that it's the CRT that needs replacing.

Or, if you don't want to get a whole new analog board, there are tons of people on here that would gladly have a look at the Mac for you, most notably Phreakout.

At ThinkGeek they used to have a Static Electricity discharger I always use for computers and the like...

And how about Static Spray?

It is completely normal for a static charge to build up on a crt's face. If you have your hand on the screen as you power up the mac, you may feel a tingle. However, it is not at all dangerous, and your %#$& will remain put, despite the surprise.

You're a bit vague on the details. Are you getting a shock when your hand is placed right in front of the screen? If that is true, then I would agree with tomlee59. But if you have the Mac's case opened up and placing your hand near the Anode Cap (suction cup) or the CRT's neck, then it's obvious to expect a more dangerous shock.
