Macintosh Portable, Backlight Issue

Just got this portable in,

I plugged it in to test it, back light worked.

I popped in a 6.0.8 floppy disk and it drew just enough power to reset the system.

After the reset the back light was out,LCD screen still works...

The 6v lead/acid battery is not good.

Anyways, so I pulled the logic board out, it was badly in need of a recap. Done.

It now boots just fine from a 6.0.8 disk, however.

Back light is still out, not working after the re-cap

I opened up the screen to look at the inverter board, nothing looks smoked, and the 2 10uf16v rubycon radial caps look fine on the inverter board.

i ended up installing 6.0.8 to see if maybe there is a Back Light Brightness Slider that might some how be down,

i am not seeing this panel, all i saw was a screen contrast slider it was all the way up.

anyone ever have a issue with a back light in one of these?

Thanks

I thought I read somewhere it was lauded with 6.0.8 so trying 7 or 7.1 may fix the issue until you can find the specific portable disk.

ah yeah, i didn't think to check for a fuse,

anyone had this happen before with an inverter board in general?

also what might the fuse look like,

Thanks for your help by the way.

I would assume it would be labeled F for fuse? just like R for resistor and C for cap?
