I'm in the UK: If you can wait a few days I can probably sort you a boot disc out and stick it in the post. What System version would you like?Yes, it seems like making my own boot disk wouldn't be possible since the Plus is the only machine I have (besides a PowerMac G4).
I'm in the UK at the moment.
It's more that I don't actually know where my stamps are, so I'll have to go through my desk drawers to find them .That would be fantastic! Please, whenever you have time. More than happy to cover postage.
1 meg is probably a bit tight for System 7. I'll boot up a Plus with a couple of things and see what works best for you.I'm not too sure about operating system - System 7 should work well on this machine right?
Sounds great. Let me know when you're ready and I can message you my address. Thanks again! It's more that I don't actually know where my stamps are, so I'll have to go through my desk drawers to find them .

If you don't hear back from me in a couple of days, please remind me! My short term task memory is basically nonfunctional at the moment, so it may get lost...Sounds great. Let me know when you're ready and I can message you my address. Thanks again!
WIll do.If you don't hear back from me in a couple of days, please remind me! My short term task memory is basically nonfunctional at the moment, so it may get lost...
Many SCSI drives have rubber bumpers inside of them that turn into a sort of goo over time. When the drive head hits the bumpers, it gets stuck and prevents any additional data from being read. This is a common point of failure for many hard disks. It is possible that this has happened inside of your drive, however, the issue may also lie with corrupted software.Of course - the story isn't over yet. The Plus starts to boot, I hear plenty of action during the boot, but it stops after around 30 seconds. The boot unfortunately gets stuck on the Happy Mac, and does not complete...... any ideas?
Does it have an OS on it or would you still like me to make a boot disc for you?Switching around and/or cleaning the RAM chips seemed to do the trick in the end. The hard drive seems to function well.
I built something to do this recently using an Arduino, see this thread which includes a link to source code. Now all I need to do is find a mouse - I'm thinking I might DIY something like this: https://hackaday.com/2017/01/23/bring-a-modern-mouse-to-an-atari-st/
It did indeed have an operating system on it, so I should be good to go without a boot floppy. Thanks again for the offer. If the hard drive gives up the ghost, I may come running.Does it have an OS on it or would you still like me to make a boot disc for you?

You are very welcome. Just let me know if you do and I'll drop one in the post .Thanks again for the offer. If the hard drive gives up the ghost, I may come running.
I'm not sure where mine came from honestly, but they seem to be very cheap on eBay . If you need any more info on how to wire it up, let me know and I'll try to provide clarity...I'll have a rummage around to see if I have one of those joysticks.
In an effort to archive the files of the SCSI drive, I connected it up to my G4. This worked well and I was able to copy over all the files. You are very welcome. Just let me know if you do and I'll drop one in the post .

If you need it, then I can sort one . I actually just got some "new" (second-hand) floppy drives in the post, so it will be a good exercise for one of those .Sorry to say that I may just need that boot floppy after all.
That would be wonderful - Thanks again! It was running system 6.0.8, and seeing as the machine only has 2.5 MB of RAM, System 7 would probably be a stretch anyway. If you need it, then I can sort one . Does it have System 7 on it or 6?
Weirdly, I can't quote your last post. Webapps are strange.Sorry to say that I may just need that boot floppy after all.
try using LIDO to look for bad sectors on a drive. Also try doing a reformat using just LIDO then installing it. apples hd scsi set up isn't the greatestTo give a final (maybe) update on my Mac Plus - I'm happy to say that with the great help of cheesestraws providing boot disks, as well as a new floppy gear from Italy, it's now running nicely!

With the help of a raspberry pi 'round the back, allowing me to use a standard USB mouse:

The only issue that remains is the SCSI drive that came with the machine (a Rodime R0652):

The drive behaves, for the most part, mounting on the Plus and on my G4 running OS9.2. I've also been able to format the drive successfully using Lido 7.
However, after formating, I tried to install 6.0.8 from floppies. The install completes successfully, but the Plus will not boot from the drive. Interestingly, If I try a boot, the question mark on the floppy symbol stops flashing and I am unable to proceed with the boot by inserting a good floppy - I am forced to restart with the floppy already inserted.
I also tried to initalize the drive using Apple HD SC Setup 7.3.5, but this results in a verification error:

My suspicion is that an area of the drive crucial to the boot may be damaged, causing the crash at boot - but any other ideas are welcome!
