Mac Hacking Techno Tools: Rpi Logic Analyzer & Oscilloscope?

Trash80toHP_Mini

NIGHT STALKER
Came up with another silly notion for a project that's leagues beyond my abilities:

Turns out my suspicion was correct, much of the work has already been done by generation Rpi.

Dunno if the feature set matches what the Sillyscope (R.A.Heinleinism or common use term?) my and Oscope my electronics development partner was using back in '88, but I'll bet a shiny nickel it's a lot more flexible than the pencil/notebook interface for the data logging end of things.

< TLDR mode >

I've always been envious of you folks who know your way around electronics. R.A.Heinlein dubbed you "electron pushers" before the vast majority of you were born. I've always been what I've called and "electron plumber." Ohm's law is what I think of as the standard maxims of Plumbing. Shit flows downhill, make sure it gets there in an orderly, efficient manner and try to avoid its path.

What I've learned is that and you can get water (and shit) to go just about anywhere you want it to with basket full of 45 degree Street Elbows, some pipe and other assorted connectors, checks and valves. That's been enough for me at the domicile level of electrical work and hobby level electronics for a very long time. But now I'd like to learn engineering of sewage systems on the block, neighborhood and eventually municipality levels and why electrons seem so much like sewage to a visual thinker.

I've always wanted to learn electronics and digital design, but that happy confluence of time, inclination and money never materialized. It likely never really will in terms of workbench area etc. But tiny tinkering toys may have changed that at the hobby level. Time's another thing that may change in the next few years as a Social Security check begins (crosses fingers) to arrive along with just a bit more tool and toy time.

I've been trying to transition my mania management Mac hacking hobby outlet from the case hack level suited to my artist/artisan/craftsman's tools (shrinking studio workshop area and storage cubic) into the development arena. Whatever, it's finally heading toward reversible hacking and upgrades just a little bit.

In any event, help or just some advice on this stuff would be greatly appreciated. A stack of SEEED Square PCB development boards interspersed with electronic/logic breakout boards with I/O headers for the kinda stuff I wanna figure out would be great. [:)]

Bolle, what do you think of this notion in terms of Accelerator reverse engineering and development?

edit: been thinking about this stuff since I nabbed a NatInt DIO board for NuBus around Y2K. Learning a bit about the OrangePi I've yet to power up in preparation for buying a more capable Pi release at some point will likely be time better spent.
