I've started experimenting with using MUNT to receive MIDI via USB from my LC 475 and I have some early success, but running in to a couple of road blocks now.
I've been able to:
What's not working are games, specifically Sierra, they either say they can't find the Midi device, or crash on load when configured to use midi. I'm wondering if they are hard coded to look for Apple's Midi Manager?
But I cannot get Apple's Midi Manager to see MUNT's emulated Roland MT-32.
I'm wondering if I need one of Apple's Midi Interfaces to get Apple Midi Manager to work properly, but I thought others were using MacMan interfaces?
Can someone with a real MT-32 tell me what they had to do to get their's working? I think @Dimitris1980, that you've had some success?
My plan is to add to my blog once/if I get this working, it would be a much cheaper option that a real MT-32 if you have a modern laptop you can connect to.
I've been able to:
- Connect a MacMan to my LC 475's modem port (recommended as the default if you can't choose)
- Connect the MacMan to my PC using Roland's UM-ONE mk2 adapter
- Tell MUNT to listen to the UM-ONE.
- Installed Open Music System 2.3.8 on my LC under OS 7.5.5
- Installed Arnold's Midi Player
- Disabled Apple Talk
- Play a midi file on my LC and hear it through MUNT on my PC.... so I know the hardware works.
