Locking up when trying to restart

Ok this might be a common problem that ive always just reinstalled the os for but.. I'm running 7.5.3 on a iifx and all's fine until i run a few programs and use the os a bit. Then it will just freeze everytime I try to reboot or shutdown. Ive tried resetting pram and rebuilding the desktop. It feels like a software thing and if i do a fresh install its all fine again.. and i seem to remember getting it back in the day too. Weird ay.. any thoughts?

Have you tried another System Folder is it just tied to the one install?

Cough. Absolutely not suggesting short term solution is to duplicate the System Folder and keep swapping in the backup when it breaks...

Might be interesting to swap in the System File, Finder... Core extensions /Control Panels one at a time next time it fails.

My money is on Finder damaged, but issue caused by the hard disk playing up.

Yeah its a blue scsi so quite possibly from swapping back n forth from modern mac with emulator etc.. cheers for the suggestions folks.

What happens if you force quit once it freezes? I had this issue with my IIci and noticed it happened when it was networked. I'd force quit and it'd come back. I'd do this again and on the third attempt it would suddenly reboot / shut down properly. I was never able to pinpoint the exact issue.
